About the Project
RaKon carried out inspections of concrete foundations, bolted connections, and steel components on 34 wind turbines at Odalen Wind Farm, using a combination of rope access techniques and drone technology. Minor repairs and corrective actions were completed continuously as part of the inspection programme.
RaKon was commissioned by Odalen Wind Farm to inspect the internal and external concrete foundations of its wind turbines. The concrete tower structures supporting all 34 turbines are 66 metres high and were inspected using rope access techniques, enabling safe and efficient access to areas that would otherwise be difficult to reach.
In addition to the concrete inspections, RaKon carried out inspections of bolted connections and various steel components throughout the structures. Minor corrective actions were completed during the inspection programme, including re-torqueing loose bolts and removing unsecured components that posed a potential dropped-object hazard.
External inspections were performed using drone technology in combination with personnel possessing specialist expertise in concrete assessment. This approach provided comprehensive coverage of the structures while ensuring an efficient and safe inspection process.
