Grouting

RaKon offers the following grouting services:

Offshore Grouting and Injection

RaKon provides specialised offshore grouting and injection services, with particular expertise in grouting operations related to the installation and maintenance of offshore wind foundations.

Grouting is a process in which highly flowable materials are pumped into confined spaces to fill voids, stabilise structures or create a load-bearing connection. In offshore applications, cement-based grouts are most commonly used, although epoxy and polyurethane systems may also be employed where project requirements demand alternative solutions.

Within the offshore wind sector, grouting plays a critical role in establishing the load-transfer connection between the monopile and the transition piece. A properly executed grout connection ensures efficient load transfer from the wind turbine to the foundation while providing long-term structural stability and corrosion protection.

RaKon also performs subsoil grouting, where grout is injected into the ground to improve soil conditions, stabilise foundations and fill underground voids.

We carry out complex grouting and injection operations both above and below water, drawing on extensive experience from demanding offshore environments. Careful planning, appropriate material selection and strict control of process parameters are essential to achieving the required quality, performance and service life.

Our support covers the entire project lifecycle, from technical planning and material selection to procedure development, equipment testing and offshore execution.

Where required, we conduct testing of materials, equipment and methodologies to identify the most robust solution for each project. This is particularly important in challenging environments where stringent requirements apply to documentation, quality assurance and operational reliability.

Grouting for Offshore Wind and Offshore Structures

RaKon provides grouting services for a wide range of offshore applications, with particular focus on foundations for offshore wind installations. Grouting is a proven method for ensuring reliable load transfer between structural elements while protecting steel structures against corrosion and filling critical voids.

We perform grouting using all types of grout materials, including Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) where projects require exceptional strength, durability or wear resistance.

Our experience with offshore concrete and steel structures enables us to deliver safe and efficient operations in demanding marine environments and challenging weather conditions.

Typical Applications

  • Grouting of load-transfer connections between transition pieces and monopiles
  • Subsoil grouting for ground stabilisation and improvement of soil conditions
  • Grouting of foundations for offshore wind turbines
  • Grouting and fixation of pipes and structural elements
  • Grouting of piles, suction anchors and rock socket anchors
  • Underpinning and bedding of structural components, such as adapter plates
  • Grouting of post-tensioning systems
  • Injection sealing of cracks and fissures
  • Repair of damaged or degraded grout connections

Mixing rigs

Recirculating Jet Mixer (RJM)

The Recirculating Jet Mixer (RJM) is a high-performance continuous grout mixing system designed to deliver stable and reliable production for demanding projects. The unit is based on proven mixing technology and benefits from more than 25 years of experience in the development of similar equipment.

The RJM produces grout within a dedicated mixing chamber, where a powerful recirculating jet stream ensures rapid and homogeneous mixing. The fully mixed slurry is then transferred to a buffer tank, where it is maintained under optimal conditions before being supplied to the grout pumps at the required production rate.

The system has been developed with a strong focus on automation and process control. Real-time monitoring of key operational parameters continuously verifies the quality of both the mixed and pumped grout, ensuring that specified material properties are maintained throughout the operation. Integrated level and pressure sensors protect the buffer tanks from overfilling and overpressure, while non-contact level sensors maintain optimal grout levels in both the mixing and storage tanks.

With a production capacity of up to 60 m³ per hour per unit, the RJM combines efficient grout production with precise quality control. The system also records operational data that can be used for process analysis, optimisation and project documentation.

The equipment is manufactured locally in the Stavanger region of Norway, ensuring high build quality and close integration between design, production and practical field experience.

To increase operational flexibility and reliability, two identical RJM units have been developed. On most projects, one unit operates as the primary production system while the second provides 100% redundancy, ensuring uninterrupted operations. The units can also operate independently and do not need to be physically located side by side.
