Rehabilitation

RaKon is a full-service contractor specialising in concrete construction and concrete rehabilitation. We possess extensive expertise in repairing and rehabilitating concrete structures in locations with challenging access conditions. We also undertake specialised projects involving grouting and injection works, membrane installation, and the installation of cathodic protection systems for concrete structures.

With extensive experience in concrete structures exposed to harsh marine environments, we work to extend the service life of critical infrastructure. Our focus is to ensure that structures maintain the load-bearing capacity, durability, and visual appearance for which they were originally designed.

Concrete Rehabilitation Services

  • Concrete repair and rehabilitation
  • Installation of cathodic protection systems
  • Specialised concrete casting and grouting

RaKon operates a dedicated grouting division with specialised expertise and equipment to deliver both large-scale and smaller grouting projects. Our capabilities cover the entire process, from engineering and testing to offshore and onshore execution, ensuring reliable and efficient project delivery.

Rope Access and Industrial Climbing

By using rope access techniques, RaKon can carry out work in areas with restricted or challenging access. In simple terms, rope access is a form of climbing adapted for industrial applications. The method was originally developed by the oil and gas industry to enable safe work at height and has increasingly become a preferred solution in a wide range of onshore industries due to its safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

All our project managers, field engineers, supervisors, and technicians are certified rope access professionals, holding SOFT certification in accordance with NS 9600 – Working at Height Using Rope Access Techniques.

The Norwegian Concrete Repair Association (NfB), in Publication No. 3, "Condition Assessment of Concrete Structures", addresses this topic and states that personnel performing inspections using rope access should be certified in accordance with NS 9600.

Compared with scaffolding and crane-based access solutions, rope access requires less mobilisation, significantly reduces the project footprint, and allows normal operations to continue with minimal disruption.

Our personnel are not only highly skilled rope access technicians, but first and foremost experienced concrete specialists. Rope access is simply the tool that enables us to deliver safe, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions. The combination of practical experience, technical expertise, and craftsmanship allows us to solve complex challenges in demanding environments.

Expertise and Experience

RaKon is built on a foundation of solid, documented expertise and extensive experience in concrete rehabilitation and inspection. Through targeted training and certification, all services are delivered by experienced specialists with a strong focus on quality and safety.

Our workforce includes skilled project managers, field engineers, craftsmen, and rope access technicians. All personnel have extensive hands-on experience in concrete rehabilitation across a wide range of industries.

Our project managers and engineers hold higher education qualifications in civil engineering, structural engineering, maintenance, and inspection, and/or relevant certifications within concrete rehabilitation, including:

  • RPK3 – Production and Quality Control Manager, Execution Class 3
  • RPK2 – Production and Quality Control Manager, Execution Class 2

Our craftsmen hold various levels of certification within concrete rehabilitation, including:

  • RPK2 – Production and Quality Control Manager, Execution Class 2
  • RFB – Foreman/Supervisor, All Execution Classes

Delivering high-quality concrete rehabilitation in areas with challenging access conditions requires more than technical expertise alone. It demands skilled craftsmen with extensive rope access experience, as well as rope access technicians with strong practical knowledge of concrete repair and rehabilitation.

This combination of multidisciplinary expertise and practical experience cannot simply be sourced externally. It must be developed over time. RaKon has invested in building this capability over the past decade and today employs around 50 highly skilled professionals with the combined expertise required to deliver complex projects efficiently and to a high standard.

We consistently deliver high-quality concrete rehabilitation, even under demanding conditions. This is achieved through experienced craftsmen and rope access technicians with extensive practical expertise.

Our multidisciplinary team has been developed over more than ten years. With approximately 50 employees, we have the competence, capacity, and experience required to execute complex projects safely, efficiently, and to a consistently high standard.

Concrete Rehabilitation Equipment

As a specialist contractor providing concrete rehabilitation services through rope access techniques and in exposed marine environments, much of our equipment is specifically adapted to meet these unique challenges.

For work within the oil and gas industry, projects may require compliance with Ex-rated equipment requirements and relevant Z-015 standards. On structures with limited infrastructure and difficult access conditions, we make extensive use of battery-powered, pneumatic, and rope-access-adapted equipment. This supports safe operations, improved ergonomics, and efficient project execution.

RaKon has extensive experience in developing tailored solutions for each individual project. We apply practical expertise, specialised equipment, and proven methodologies to deliver high-quality work in accordance with applicable standards and industry requirements for concrete rehabilitation.
