HANZ Project Grouting Works

Project status

About the Project

RaKon carried out the grouting of a brace leg at a water depth of 110 metres to ensure adequate load-bearing capacity for the pipeline tie-in between the Hanz field and the Ivar Aasen platform on behalf of Aker BP. The scope of work included the supply of equipment and personnel, development of procedures and documentation, as well as testing and offshore execution of the grouting operation.

As part of the tie-in of two pipelines from the Hanz field to the Ivar Aasen platform, RaKon was awarded the contract for grouting services by Aker BP.

The scope of work involved grouting a brace leg that provided structural support for the tie-in J-tubes. The brace leg was located at a water depth of 110 metres. The purpose of the operation was to strengthen the brace leg by filling it with high-strength grout, enabling it to achieve the required load-bearing capacity to withstand the anticipated loads during the tie-in operation. The grouting was carried out from a supply vessel.

The contract included:

• Supply of equipment, materials, and skilled personnel
• Development of procedures and project documentation
• Pre-testing and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
• Offshore grouting operations

The project was executed between January and the end of April 2023.
